CHILDHOOD
When Winfrey was 6, she moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to live with her mother. When she was in her early teens, she went to live with her father in Nashville.

EDUCATION
Winfrey majored in speech communications and performing arts at Tennessee State University after being awarded a full scholarship, but went to work for herself as a broadcaster; she eventually graduated in 1986.
After moving to Baltimore, Maryland, in 1976, Winfrey became the host of the People Are Talking talk show on television. After which she was approached by a Chicago TV station to host her own morning show, A.M. Chicago. In 1986, Winfrey became the first Black woman to host a nationally syndicated talk daily talk show when she started The Oprah Winfrey Show. The 25-year run ended in 2011.

Oprah Winfrey participated in a variety of philanthropic activities, including Oprah's Angel Network, which provides funding for charitable initiatives all around the world. She established a $40 million school in South Africa in 2007 for underprivileged girls. She also started speaking out against child abuse in society.
MY OPINION
I consider Oprah Winfrey as a role model because of her strong belief in her own abilities and the good of people. Winfrey has been able to inspire a great number of people worldwide.
